Accessibility
Elena wants everyone to be able to enjoy this site, whatever device they use and however they browse. The site aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
What's in place
- Text and background colours meet WCAG AA contrast levels, in both light and dark mode.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to content" link at the top of each page.
- Book covers and photos have text descriptions for screen readers.
- Pages work at any zoom level and on small screens.
- Nothing plays automatically, and animations are switched off if your device is set to reduce motion.
Known limits
- Photos in older journal posts have general descriptions rather than detailed ones.
- The few short videos in older journal posts don't have captions.
- The magazine articles on the Commissions page are scanned PDFs, so screen readers may not be able to read them.
- Podcast episodes are audio, and transcripts aren't available yet.
